The Study Group on the History of Daito Bunka University held its third meeting at Daito Bunka Hall on Thursday, July 25, 2019.
Participants in the meeting presented their research findings in the following order: Muneo Tanimoto (full-time researcher, the Daito Archives/ specially-appointed associate professor, Institute of Oriental Studies)/ Daito Bunka University Courses Found in Materials Submitted to Joint Faculty Meetings (from April 1963 to March 1986); Koji Miyataki (professor, Department of History and Culture, Faculty of Literature)/ The Local History of the Sites of Daito Bunka University’s Itabashi and Higashimatsuyama Campuses; and Sumiyo Ishii (associate professor, Department of Socio-Economics, Faculty of Economics)/ A Thought on the Ideas of Enkichi Oki.
Faculty members and alumni took part in the meeting, participating in active discussion during the question-and-answer session.
Investigations into and studies on the history of Daito Bunka University are expected to advance further going forward.
The Study Group on the History of Daito Bunka University plans to continue meetings to report on the state of the investigations and studies.

The Study Group on the History of the Daito Bunka University held its second meeting at Daito Bunka Hall on Friday, October 19, 2018. Participants in the meeting reported their research findings in the following order: Muneyoshi Nakamura (director, Daito Archives/professor, Department of Modern Economics): British Diplomatic Documents Related to the Founding of the Daito Bunka Association; and Muneo Tanimoto (full-time researcher, the Daito Archives, research associate professor, Institute for Oriental Studies): Material Introduction: A Half-Century at Our Alma Mater, Boxed Articles in the Daito Bunka University Newspaper (1972 to 1975). Following the first meeting in April, participants listened to reports on the latest research related to the history of Daito Bunka University. They engaged in meaningful discussions. The Study Group on the History of Daito Bunka University plans to report research progress by continuing to organize meetings even though they will be irregular.

The second issue of the Bulletin of Research on the History of Daito Bunka University was issued on March 31, 2019.
It contained four contributions, including two research notes, one material introduction and one essay.
Following the publication of the Bulletin, the university planned the Study Group on the History of Daito Bunka University for holding discussions from many different angles and linking them to research in the future. The Study Group held its first open meeting at Daito Bunka Hall on Monday, April 23, 2019.
Participants delivered reports in the following order: Akio Arai (professor, Department of Education, Faculty of Literature): An Introduction to the Establishment of the Vocational School: Circumstances Before the Imperial University Education Order; Muneo Tanimoto (full-time researcher, the Daito Archives, research associate professor, Institute for Oriental Studies): The Course of Daito Bunka University Found in the Daito Bunka School Newspaper (from the 1966 Academic Year to the 1973 Academic Year); and Koji Miyataki (professor, Department of History and Culture): A Daito Bunka Gakuen Excursion to Mt. Tsukuba in 1927: Those Who Study Hard, Play Hard.
Many retired faculty members, including alumni and former presidents, participated, in addition to current teachers. The meeting became a place for active discussions where questions were asked freely.
Participants were able to share their latest research findings through meaningful discussions thanks to the long periods reserved for Q & A sessions following each presentation. The Study Group hopes to continue contributing the results of its meetings to the compilation of the centennial history of Daito Bunka University.
